The art of Embroider shows a history of more than 2000 years. Sanlin-Embroider was born for over 700 years from Shanghai Luxiangyuan Gu-Embroider which was the forefather and now boasts a very long history and famous name. Gu-Embroider has been playing a great role in the history of Embroider and contributed greatly to the current famous four sorts of Embroider art and deemed as the beginning thing of Embroider. During the early time of Qing Dynasty, Gu Lanyu, who was the great-granddaughter of the famous people of Gu Mingshi, moved to Sanlin area, and consequently the art of Embroider was introduced in among the people of Sanlin area and the exquisite processing of Embroider has been handed down by one generation to another within Sanlin area. Along with the improvement of the skills and processing of Embroider, Sanlin-Embroider was formed out. In 20th century, the works of Sanlin-Embroider has reached some abroad markets such as Japan,Europe and America and so Sanlin area won the brand name of Embroider Village. In the 80s of 20th century, the embroideress of Sanlin went abroad and made performance on exhibition in France which made our homeland graceful. Many nobles, ex-president Reagan, British queen Elizabeth, loved and bought many Embroider works. In the 90s, Sanlin-Embroider was badly impacted by the use of machine in Embroider industry and declined gradually. In 2005, local government made decision to gloom the Sanlin-Embroider in the background of ¡®rescue traditional culture¡¯organised by Shanghai government. Under the favourable circumstance and the gold medal issued by Traditional Exhibition, the new company for the business of Embroider named Sanlin Manor was incorporated successfully .
